Different perspectives, shared standards
Our editorial roles
Each person has a distinct responsibility, but no comparison is improved by working in isolation. These are the people and interests shaping our coverage.
Editorial lead
Alex Mercer
Alex shapes our UK coverage and checks that comparisons use consistent language. A keen browser strategy player, Alex looks for explanations of what a game asks of the player: planning, patience, collaboration or quick decisions.
The editorial lead’s review separates verifiable details from judgement. If a description calls a platform straightforward or welcoming, Alex asks what supports that view and whether the wording tells readers enough to make their own assessment.
Platform researcher
Priya Bennett
Priya follows adventure and role-playing platforms, with a particular interest in how ongoing stories and player communities are described. Research starts with official pages, public help information and the terms that explain access.
Priya records source dates and checks availability and pricing descriptions. A free starting point can still come with optional purchases or limits, so the research notes distinguish entry requirements from extras rather than treating every offer as equivalent.
Usability editor
Jamie Ellis
Jamie reviews navigation, content organisation and readability across devices. The aim is to help readers find the useful detail without working through unnecessary jargon or losing the distinction between a platform feature and our commentary.
Jamie also checks published accessibility information and turns reader feedback into practical editorial questions. A confusing description of controls, account requirements or mobile access becomes a prompt to revisit the wording and consult the relevant public source.
